It’s my birthday on Thanksgiving Day. PERFECT! I love, love, love when that happens. It’s DOUBLE GRATITUDE. Double celebration. Today I had TWO cupcakes just because – one chocolate, one pumpkin. DOUBLE HAPPINESS.
One person actually responded: “That sucks”. WHAT?! Au contraire. It’s utterly GLORIOUS. This person went right into lack, instead of abundance. She actually said “No one’s gonna remember your day.” Are you kidding? Everyone remembers my day, cause it’s OUR day. We are ONE, after all.
We sit down at Thanksgiving to share a meal with people we love – one of God’s greatest gifts. I believe it is in sharing food (sustenance, love) that we come together in community and understanding. That’s why I love to cook. My heart expands when I watch a friend, lover, family member, complete stranger savor, truly savor, something I’ve concocted in the kitchen. Just thinking about it floods my being with warmth.
Thanks – Giving is about those two actions – gratitude and giving. Gratitude + Giving = Abundance. Imagine my glee when all that is doubled on my birth – day. Words fail me. Every morning meditation these days is ripe with gratitude. I can’t say THANK YOU enough!
And, in turn, every opportunity lately has been two-fold. They just keep coming! Down to having to make stuffing twice cause I made the first batch too salty. We now have double the stuffing!
If you must know, my family makes a traditional Puerto Rican meat stuffing. I use ground turkey cause I don’t eat mammals. Otherwise, it’s the same – sautéed onions, shallots, garlic, green and red bell peppers, Gigi’s Adobo, tomato sauce, pimento-stuffed green olives, capers, raisins, almonds, Sherry. Seriously eco-licious. You’re welcome to come try it. I made twice what I needed… The first one salty, the second saltless. Combined… perfection.
But I digress –
